Associate Director, Climate Initiatives
Rachel Massaro joined Joint Venture in 2009 to assist with the Climate Prosperity Initiative, the Climate Protection Task Force and related projects.
She previously was a data analyst, researcher and field operations coordinator for three years with the Department of Oceanography at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she earned her Master of Science degree in geochemical oceanography in 2008.
Rachel was accepted into the program on an Oceanography Department Research Assistantship and a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Sea Grant-funded Traineeship. Her research was focused on global climate change and the role of the coastal ocean, specifically with respect to carbon dioxide dynamics.
Rachel completed her Bachelor of Science degree in physical geography with a minor in geology at the University of California at Santa Barbara. She specialized in geospatial data analysis, Geographic Information Systems and global climate change.
Rachel has volunteered her time with such community organizations as Sustainovation, Operation Care & Comfort and Habitat for Humanity. She was born and raised in Palo Alto, California.
